Microsoft announce their anticipated answer to the tablet, Surface…

In a move that’s becoming something of a market trend, Microsoft have made their latest play in the chase to catch the advancing Apple. At a press event in Los Angeles yesterday, Microsoft announces their own tablet, named ‘Surface’. The Surface’s design is centred towards picking up the loose ends of the currently available tablets: the lack of a keyboard, not having a secure stand to prop your tablet up on and the basic troubles of moving from Microsoft to Apple software. The Surface is geared to run on a version of Windows 8, which is fairly drastic departure from the standard Windows design and format, and seems partly an effort on Microsoft’s behalf to prove their operating system is the one for the HTML5 generation. You can download a full spec sheet of the Surface here.

Microsoft also released an extremely good looking noire-inspired promo video for the Surface.
