Pan pipe house, new beat edits, menacing, Ukrainian techno and a whole lot more…
First up we have some luxuriant pan pipe house, courtesy of Don’t Be Afraid owner, Semtek. Perfect listening for those sunny afternoons as we watch winter melt into spring.
Alysha Fleiter aka Nite Fleit is probably best known as one half of Lady Shave – a project that mainly deals in Middle Eastern mysticism and lush Balearica – but she’s found the time to contribute to Power Station‘s free edit series with an acid-tinged rework.
Here’s a piano-driven chug resplendent with celestial electronics, produced by Craig Bratley under his Beato Cozzi alias. Originally released on vinyl last year, the full 12″ is still available from Juno.
Sissor & Thread affiliate Black Light Smoke delivers the goods once again, following up last year’s free edits with a couple more. This time around it’s The Chaplain Band’s 1982 disco cut, ‘Il Veliero’, and some new wave from the Rochester-based Eleven Pond getting the remix treatment.
Truly menacing stuff from a Ukranian producer with one of the best monikers we’ve seen in some time. These pummelling productions represent another side to the emerging Odessan collective assembling under the система | system banner.
I’m a Cliché turn to Nein Records founder Neil Parnell aka Tronik Youth to provide the 72nd contribution to their edit series. He didn’t disappoint either, rolling out a slab of propulsive new beat, complete with jackhammer kicks and piercing synths more than capable of raising a few hairs.
