YES, the Belgrade party-turned-label headed by one Stevie Whisper and Vitanov, ventures out of the shadow and into the streetlight with their first 12”, a split from countrymen Andria and A//O. The A-side is built from vital rhythms, Andria drawing from deep within the jungle to harness the incensed spirits of African Headcharge and lacing it with sluggish industrial intensity. Herzog can be heard on the first track expounding about the obscenity of the jungle, narrating the dark essential energy echoing from the drums of defiance –mystic and primordial. On the flip A//O provides a couple of flavours of Dutch chug, half-speed techno, and dark giallo/EBM synth-sludge.

‘So Far’ takes Andria’s anthropocene dub and feeds it through the gloaming pitch of occasionally jarring machines, creating a similarly hypnotic atmosphere as a PWOG record but with a directness closer to UK roughness.

YES001 is out June 8th on YES – pre-order direct from the label.
