Following the Hi-NRG disco vibes of Hysteric’s Summer In Cairo EP that inaugurated the Paris-based label back in October, Fuego International make a dramatic return with a sensitively grooved-out 12” from fellow Parisian Too Smooth Christ. The intriguingly titled Cleopatra’s Secret Diary EP will hit record stores on May 30th, and it promises to bring “great fun and poetry [to] the dancefloor”: evidence of this leisurely assertion is certainly apparent in the release’s B1 cut ‘Vipera Aspis’, included just below.

From relatively sombre beginnings, additional skittering synths gradually come into effect as we push forward. Pensive yet ultimately playful, other nuances and unique instrumentation embellish the overall atmosphere that Too Smooth Christ establishes to captivating effect. The combination of these factors, including the various emotive, synthetic sounds and interesting compositional structure make for the EP’s most thought-provoking moment.

Cleopatra’s Secret Diary EP is out May 30th on Fuego International – pre-order the vinyl here.
