Belgian producer Joris Biesmans launched his TVe project after growing disillusioned with listening habits influenced by streaming services and the fickle, throwaway nature of music in the 21st Century. An abbreviation of “The Virtual escape,” it’s a deliberate attempt to provide an antithesis to the direction modern music has largely been taking in an increasingly digital world. Armed with an arsenal of homemade hardware, tape-based effects and unconventional ideas, Biesmans is now on the verge of his grand unveiling.

Preferring the intuitive over the formulaic, the Farewell EP adopts a rough-around-the-edges blueprint and the remixes from ASOK and Legowelt AKA Danny Wolfers follow suit. Cloaking ‘Further’ in deep chords and a simmering acid line, the latter takes this concept even further than Biesmans’ original. A wizard of sensory overload, Wolfers trades the delicate keys and soulful vocals for an off-kilter array of oddball synths, ominous textures and rough-cut analogue drums to create something quintessentially Legowelt.

The Farewell EP is out November 4th on TVe Recordings – pre-order the vinyl here.
