Enigmatic producer V cuts a mysterious figure under his/her current guise – word is that the project is a cloak and dagger affair from a veteran producer of possibly French or Belgian origin. It’s hardly surprising, after all, assuming a new alias covertly can do wonders to free an artist from the shackles of expectation (a quick search on Discogs gave the true identity away, but we’ll leave it for you to investigate, should you so wish). With unmistakable new wave influences, releases on the Fort Romeau co-owned Cin Cin label and Sub Club’s Nautilus Rising imprint have laid down a marker, but a remix EP of the former’s opening track is scheduled to land on the fledgling Le Temps Perdu.
Cage & Avery member Jamie Paton, Krautelektro duo Fred und Luna and the mysterious 0300 are all credited on the tracklist, but we have the exclusive on a rework from Disco Halal artist, Autarkic. Reining in some of the original’s thrust and chug, the Tel Aviv native ushers it into kosmische territory with a staccato take on the synth hook. The intoxicating qualities are by no means diminished, however, as we negotiate a dense forest of heady atmospherics and pitter-patter percussion.
La Nouvelle Epoque is out November 24th on Le Temps Perdu.
