It’s business as usual as Relative Records prep another John Swing 12″.
Born out of a joint fascination with analogue production tools and live recording, Relative Records is the result of John Swing and EMG’s decision to launch a label exclusively geared towards releasing their own productions. Four years down the line and the label has made an impression, becoming a go-to resource for the sort of unfettered house tracks serious selectors can’t wait to get into their record bags.
Next up is the label’s fourteenth release and it’s just what we’ve come to expect from an artist that doesn’t seem too concerned with much else other than getting your feet moving. Taking off in similar manner to the solo Dusty Dancing effort John released last Spring, this one makes use of the sort of percussive swing and unrelenting kicks usually present on disco-tinged slammers of a similar pedigree.
It’s easy to see what he means when John states that the majority of his “inspiration in the production approach comes from the past”, with so much of his material featuring the same boundless energy and soul associated with early Chicago house.
Dutty Grooves is out on February 5th in 12″ format. Pre-order it here.
