Born in the bedrooms of Lisbon and shaped sonically by the Afro-Portuguese roots of its founders, Príncipe provides listeners with a singular take on the sounds of kuduro and batida. Entirely “dedicated to releasing 100% real contemporary dance music” from the slums and suburbs of their hometown, the label founders balance the frantic energy and unfettered, percussive nature of their influences with (for the most part) club-friendly structures.
It isn’t long, however, until the Camden Assembly welcome DJs Marfox, Nigga Fox and Firmeza through its doors for a special London showcase on May 19th. From the neglected housing projects of Lisbon to the Chalk Farm Road via São Tomé E Príncipe, the Portuguese triumvirate promise to trigger rapturous scenes of unbridled energy with their immediate, kinetic and idiosyncratic constructions.
DJ Marfox, DJ Nigga Fox and DJ Firmeza play the Camden Assembly, London on May 19th – buy tickets here.
