A weekly rundown of mixes and radio shows we’ve been enjoying…

Lullabies For Insomniacs – RA Label of the month

Born out of a radio show of the same name, Amsterdam label Lullabies For Insomniacs is a purveyor of experimental vignettes, found sound, drone atmospherics and drum circle meditations. Seven releases deep, you could say 2017 has been a watershed year for Izabel Caligiore’s brainchild, culminating in it being named ‘label of the month’ by Resident Advisor.

Naomi & Volvox on NTS (26th July 2017)

“Summery acid tunes for driving around” as Discwoman’s Volvox makes a guest appearance on the monthly show from LA-based NTS resident, Naomi.

Digital Tsunami 131 – Identified Patient

Part of a new wave of producers committed to keeping the Dutch tradition of raw, dystopian electronic music alive, Identified Patient caught our attention with a couple of menacing efforts on Pinkman Records and Common Thread. Pairing their interview with a mix from the man himself, Digital Tsunami recently caught up with the Amsterdam-based producer.

Loud-E live Dj 2-4am – The Psychedelic Frogfish Appreciation Society @ Sameheads

Loud-E hadn’t released anything since 2011 ahead of his recent contribution to Berceuse Heroique’s ever-reliable Brasserie Heroique Edits series. It’s almost as rare to find the former CBS and Intergalactic FM regular behind the decks, so this recording from a recent party at Sameheads in Berlin is quite a treat.

Bokeh Versions on NTS w/ Blazer Sound System (7th September 2017)

NYC outfit Blazer Sound System joined Bokeh Versions founder Bokeh Edwards on the airwaves ahead of their recent appearance at Cosies in Bristol.

In the words of Edwards himself: “Truly one of the best mixes you’ll find this year. Ragged dancehall, sultry rnb, ruffneck breaks, the craziest carbon-based blend of Police & Thieves > thrown into a blender with dark atmospherics and a few Blazer Sound exclusive dubs.”
