Having been the subject of an excellent archival release in 2018, Christoph De Babalon makes a very welcome return to Melbourne imprint A Colourful Storm. Sharing the record with a fellow purveyor of ambient and drum & bass, he and Mark (previously covered here under his Klon Dump alias) do their very best to encapsulate a snapshot of the disturbing, as well as the divine – a description which most certainly fits within their modus operandi.

‘Webs Of Wraith’ will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with de Babalon: bearing qualities synonymous with the producer’s previous output, hauntological abstractions loom over broken, junglist rhythms for the duration. This is a very strong opening to a remarkable 12″ – as it dissolves into the ether, listeners are primed for a trip into the cavernous and truly ominous side of dance music, always lurking underneath.
