Forthcoming in early February on Cosmic Pint Glass, Daniel T gives us two imperial and metric heaters under the names of ‘Fahrenheit’ and ‘Celsius’. Cosmic Pint Glass are known for hot, humid and squelchy house cuts from the likes of Ruf Dug and Toby Tobias, as well as their Hot Tropics compilation, and the latest provides no exception. With Laurer and Jack Pattern assigned remix duties on the flip, it’s Daniel T’s debut for the label, having previously released on Tito, American Standard Recordings and Young Adults.
‘Fahrenheit’ begins with tightly woven woodblock tones, sitting harmoniously alongside overdriven, reverb-soaked claps. The introduction of drum and cowbell brings up the pace and a growling bass provides the foundation, but as the track develops the many textures in its undergrowth become apparent. From sawtooth synths to the slap bass, echo’d voice interjections and glistening pan pipes, these are just some of the examples of what a close listen can uncover in Daniel T’s dense soundscape.
Fahrenheit/Celsius is out February 10th on Cosmic Pint Glass – pre-order the vinyl here.
