Probably best known for releasing on the Detroit-influenced D1 Recordings, close to a decade spent in relative obscurity was brough to an abrupt end with the announcing of Ikeaboy‘s first release in years. Out now on Ukrainian imprint Wicked Bass, the 12″ comes sporting two previously unreleased tracks and ‘Dayna’, a cut lifted from the Sleeper Cell EP, recorded alongside Dave “Mote” Grimes. Assembling all of the gear used to write that track close to 15 years ago, the hardware enthusiast chose to revisit it, slowing the BPM down by ten which has in turn given the melodic elements so wrought with emotion room to breathe that they weren’t afforded on the original. The EP’s title translates to “expression,” and there’s no shortage of that on the closing track.
