More doom from Manchester. The gothic sci-fi of Natural Sciences is true again, this time at the hands of Jack Roland; the gutterpunk breaks and twilight electro is thorough and direct energy with tense dread and detail colouring the flow, heaving under the weight of the distortia gloam when it floods.
The select cut is ‘Tunnel S3’; cranked buzz and clipped rhythm is bolstered by a ten ton kick, the bass signal tapping out guttural prosigns under the long growl and subtle, taut discomfort pads. It’s pushed forwards by chopped textures which build the myriad rhythm, changing gears into a jacked, sinister breakbeat – more psychological horror than Giallo.
Control / Applications is out soon on Natural Sciences – pre-order direct from the label.
