Fresh new mega comp installation picks up right where its predecessor left off. Accompanying an small-scale reissue of the beloved BST001, Lyon-based party-come-podcast collective Bamboo Shows continue to demonstrate their deep-rooted affection for the introspective, the gloomy and dubby-downtempo with a second tape. A similar range of psychedelia and esoteric ooze to that featured on the inaugural cassette, Bamboo Shows Tapes 002 welcomes 14 new artists into the fold. A sublime package, it reeks of the sounds from the fringe we’re so utterly captivated by.

Contemporary offerings include the likes of Venezuelian freaks Bear Bones, Lay Low, Glasgow’s Komodo Kelektif, not to mention Vague Imaginaires, whose gorgeous debut is scheduled for release on 12th Isle. Our pick, however, comes courtesy of Guillaume Lespinasse, AKA Jonquera. Best known as one half of The Pilotwings, the BFDM affiliate offers up an extraordinarily abstract distillation of strung out weirdo dub. Since the self-proclaimed imagery from the folks over at Bamboo Shows is a kind of nod of the head to golden jahren of the of esotericism enjoyed in the ’90s, it feels appropriate to make comparisons to the likes of the ambient-worldbeat group, Loop Guru, or even something from the brilliant Biosphere back catalogue.

Bamboo Shows Tapes 002 is out June 10th | Pre-order here
