Drawing from ancient folk traditions rooted in Slavic mythology and Armenian instrumentation, Kolida Babo prove as intriguing and mythical as their namesake. The Greek duo are acolytes of the Armenian duduk, originators of an idiosyncratic sound that belies jazz and traditional roots.
Formed of Socratis Votskos and Harris P, the synthesis of Moog and woodwind presents a mesmeric melting pot of disparate influences: fourth world aesthetics to psychedelic West African funk, even notes of trip hop are heard across the eponymously titled debut. Charged with the duty of producing not one, but two remixes, Who’s The Technician? picks up where a woozy rework from Mica Levi, Dean Blunt and Klein collaborator Coby Sey left off. The Coby Sey & Who’s The Technician? Remixes are out February 28th on MIC – pre-order here
