Fresh heat out of Amsterdam as Flippen Disks set out their stall with a slammer of a debut. Elements of trance and spaced-out house mark the way, but established by founder Monty, the label’s modus operandi simply focuses around “bringing good people together” – this is certainly evident as the Dutchman recruits a new-look Julius van Ijperen to make his first proper appearance as Post Traumatic Drum Disorder. The record also enlists the remix services of DJ Ungel, the Candomblé member whose acid breaks on ‘Transpirits’ put him on the radar for those in the know back in 2018.

As you’d expect from a collaborative effort, this one really weaves. Keep your wits about you because head bobbing compositions give way to dance floor chuggers with the kind of sure-footed pizzazz that makes you wonder why you haven’t heard more from the Red Light regular. Ungel’s ‘Adventure Mix’ finds the Düsseldorfer picking up the danciest of the originals, rubbing it with just enough of his signature tribal energy to coax you back to the dance floor, eyes closed, dreaming of that Goa sunset.

FD001 is out July 13th on Flippen Disks – pre-order here.
