If RIP Swirl‘s 9TEEN90 plays like the illegitimate lovechild of Boards of Canada and Iglooghost, Jai Paul must have been invited to help conceive the followup. A shimmering amalgam of the glitched-out textures heard on that Public Possession debut and a similarly lo-fi, hazy R&B pop – a callback to his days as on half of dream pop duo BIRTHDAYS and supporting the likes of How To Dress Well – the Berliner’s latest effort, titled Hope You Are Well, is his most most accomplished to date. Steeped in melancholy, it’s best typified in today’s premiere, ‘Antisocial’.
