Wandering through this nebulous landscape, the mind drifts into an altered state of awareness. Relative concepts like time and space do not apply here. A vast plain of blindingly bright light spans the horizon, but almost appears to move further away with every footstep. Faint voices call out from the abyss, tantalisingly close yet as unobtainable as the moon. Are we fated to wander this seemingly never-ending terrain for eternity?
Following three years away from the studio, Dean Feeney and Eddie Reynolds have revived their Tr One moniker with a debut on Dublin’s Lunar Disko Records. Trading in a drifting brand of house and techno, the Chicarlow EP is a step towards a more cerebral and detail-oriented approach, and running at over 9 minutes, opener ‘DX Is Dead’ is a truly absorbing affair. Soothing, luminous stabs of bass synth anchor the lighter than air melodies, the synthetic, twinkling arpeggios weaving their way through through a snappy arrangement of claps and hi hats.
The Chicarlow EP is out on October 10th via Lunar Disko – Pre-order the vinyl here
