Waitress first touched down on the fledgling Tape Archive imprint earlier this year to deliver a 12″ of bewitching, melodic techno entitled COPY 1. Daubed in drifting, ethereal synth washes and metallic hues, these muscular slow-burners were deep and inviting – imagine Levon Vincent at the peak of his powers and you’re not far away. Now the mysterious producer returns for the follow-up, venturing into darker territory than the debut ever dared to tread.

With fidgety, tribal rhythms, foggy sound design and unsettling melodies, a sense of gloom pervades the opener from COPY 2. A 10-minute trip, ‘Lost (Mind Spinning In The Backyard Mix)’ comes complete with its very own and equally hypnotic video. Turning your average aerobic workout upside down and inside out, the video switches up the perspective in vivd technicolour. Twisted and distorted, it’s as if you were wearing thermal goggles while under the influence of some psychoactive roots.

COPY 2 is out October 28th on Tape Archive – pre-order the vinyl here.
